First Attempt (Practice Shots)
|
When we started the project we set out to create a tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The idea for which can be found here.
The idea of the Pied Piper worked well to start with as we were able to film with children who looked like typical horror victims (i.e. blonde haired girls) and we werea ble to film around water, which is how the Piper killed his victims. However, we realised at the post edit stage, that creating such a teaser trailer would be near impossible with the equipment and experience available to us. We were actually able to film and edit a lot of the footage for the Hamelin trailer before changing our idea. To the right is our Hamelin trailer, which we feel shows an advanced knowledge of media skills and also highlights the extended practice that was gained in creating it. Despite not finishing the trailer, it did give us a lot more experience to take forward with us into making the new trailer for Devour. We found out what our limits were for our ideas and how hard it was to film everything we needed for the trailer to make sense without giving too much away. There were obviously a lot more shots that didn't make it into the final edit for this trailer, as well as the new one, however for the Hamelin trailer, we were just trying to suggest the horror that would come from the film in length. We realised however, that this wasn't possible to do as it wasn't making the trailer scary enough for an audience, and was also another reason for changing our idea. DS/SS |

Additionally, we were persuaded to re-think our original project idea because of the feedback we received via social media accounts.
Whilst many of those that had seen our uploaded project could see the sort of idea we were aiming for, many couldn't see the product that we had created fulfilling the brief given. Although we attempted to rectify the product based on the audiences feedback, it's position simply became untenable and therefore we returned to the research and planning stage to create a product better suited to the brief.
