Reviewing Previous Trailers
Outbreak
What was good?
The group used a good range of shots which were consistent and relevant to the task at hand.
The use of lighting was particularly effective in creating atmosphere in the trailer.
The choice of locations within the trailer was particularly effective in emphasising the groups message.
The use of a voiceover helped to enhance the trailer and added to the tension created.
What could be improved?
The music choice seemed slightly inappropriate for the task at hand and a better track could have been used.
In the trailer titles appeared and left the screen too quickly, in my opinion, this coupled with the cliche and not so good font choice could have been improved.

Reformation
What was good?
Post editing of this trailer was very effective with the use of overlays particularly enhancing and complementing the raw footage.
Location choices were also good in this trailer. The locations conveyed and created vast amounts of tension.
The use of cameras and camera angles was also very impressive in the trailer.
Sound was also a positive of this trailer, the use of a sound and sound layering, such as a voice over and musical sfx added to the trailer massively.
What could be improved?
My only recommendation for improvement in this trailer would be to slow some shots down. Currently shots progress at the same speeds, by using a variety of speeds I think a deeper tension and understanding could be developed.

Viral
What was good?
Use of sound was a bonus in this trailer. The groups chosen sounds and sound effects added a tension that would not have otherwise been achieved.
Post edit was also particularly effective in the trailer, for example the reversal of shots, which created further insight into the trailers meaning.
Locations used were excellent in matching and enhancing the trailer to the fullest extent.
The pace of the trailer was spot on. There were a variety of different paced shots which meant that the audience was forced to concentrate on one issue for too long.
What could be improved?
There were a few shots in the trailer that could have been colour corrected to ensure that they were most effective. Some were far too bright which broke the 'horror' illusion.
In my own opinion the titles at the beginning would have been more effective as a voice over because, compared to the rest of the trailer, it seemed too out of synch.

Epidemic
What was good?
The use of contrapuntal sound in this trailer was definitely a bonus. The music choice fitted the theme of the trailer well.
Variety of shots in the trailer also worked well because it helped to build the ideas and themes of the trailer.
By using a variety of locations the trailer create a feeling of intrigue as to what could happen throughout the rest of the film.
What could be improved?
This trailer, at times, lacks the 'horror' perspective. It seems to imitate more a comedy-horror rather than an actual horror film.
The group could have benefitted from also changing the film title because it doesn't really seem to fit their trailer or brief.
Personally, I found that the youtube clips they used seemed to irrelevant, I would recommend using a clip that features hard hitting words or phrases people will remember.
Finally the majority of the shots in this trailer were too bright. This, in turn, broke any tension built and didn't help to make the audience feel remotely scared.

Blood Rush
What was good?
Editing and use of clips in this trailer were both fantastic. They were cleverly edited to create a dynamic and interesting trailer.
The use of a voice over helped to create tension throughout the trailer and added a feeling of personalism to the audience adding to their fear.
In this trailer the sound choices were also effective in creating tension and drawing the audience into the trailer.
By using an array of locations the group has helped the audience to gain an understanding of the film and helped to show what may happen during the full length film.
Camera angles were also good and varied in this trailer. They helped to give the audience an all round view of the situations occurring in the trailer.
What could be improved?
I think that this trailer could be improved pacing some of the shots slightly better. Although for the most part pacing is good, at some points consecutive long clips make the audience lose focus.
