Location, Props and Lighting (First Attempt)
Location
To make our trailer look like a genuine film, we're using a variety of locations. We have decided on some locations that'll scare the audience but also make them want to watch our film. After looking back on previous students work, we saw that the majority of them used 3-5 locations for their trailers.
Our first location is a forest area. We think this'll look great on camera as it gets darker and will add a really scary depth to the film. Seeing as a forest is possibly where children would go to play, using it in a horror, in which children are killed, gives an even more tense atmosphere.

Our second location is a river. This is because we wanted to have an aspect of the truth from the original story in our horror. In the original, The Pied Piper drowns the children in a river and so because of this we wanted to use it in our trailer. We are planning to have one of our victims drown in the river, however, we know it is impossible to make a young child, aged 8 or 9, pretend to drown. Due to this we have decided to film this scene in a specific way, which can be found here.
Our third location is a house and a children's bedroom. This is because the Pied Piper is taking over the children's thoughts, much like "Woman In Black" (2012), and so he would be waking them up in the middle of the night. We can then film the child walking through the house and possibly even having them drown in a bath. Also any interviews with the worried parents of the child could also be filmed in a house.
Our last location that we chose was a graveyard because we think that having a child walk through a graveyard would make the audience feel really uncomfortable. Also it slightly foreshadows what is going to happen because that is where the children will eventually end up once they have died.

Props
Our trailer allows for minimal props to be used, really. We have decided that, in order to not give away the identity, the killer will wear all black clothing including black gloves and feature as mainly a silhouette.
As the children all die a water related death we will need to create different water style deaths:
Firstly, we will need to find a log or similar sized object to make it look as though the child has jumped into the docks basin. This is because, in accordance with health and safety, we cannot actually have a child jump in.
Secondly, we will have to use a cloth to create a 'water boarding'/suffocation style death.

Lighting
In our trailer lighting will be key to creating the correct atmosphere and in keeping our audience captivated. In the teaser trailer we don't want to give away the identity of the killer and so for the majority of the time the character will be lit side on. This allows us to create a dark, tense atmosphere, whilst only giving away the bare minimum of the killers body.
Due to the locations we have chosen to film in the lighting will have to vary greatly. For instance the words is likely to feature a lot of streaks of light which, when filmed later in the day, will create an eery style on screen. We feel that this will be effective because using a blanket lighting style often leads to a loss of interest and causes the audience to become disinterested in the film.
At the docks the lighting will be low level and mostly offered through the use of street lighting. By using lighting that is already in place and altering it during the post edit stage it further enhances the feeling of personalism. This will therefore draw the audience into the product to a much greater extend and cause them to want to see the full, finalised, product.
