Inspirations
Mama (2013)
|
We were heavily inspired by the film "Mama" (2013). This is because we based the character of Joanne on the two feral girls in the film. The shots of the girls in the film would be hard for us to film therefore we came up with the idea of a teenage cannibal, taking our ideas from the film itself.
This film is about two feral children who have had to bring themselves up in a forest, and being watched over by 'Mama'. The girls are found and adopted by their uncle. We thought that the plot of the film was relatively sad, despite that fact is it a horror film.
We got the idea of having our cannibalistic killer like the young girls in the film, as we thought that having the killer in a forest would add another aspect of horror into our trailer. Because we were basing our horror in a woods, the idea of the 'feral children' was the first thing we thought of. We found, from our research, that this was a rather popular film and therefore gave us the idea that a similar film would be just as enjoyable to those who watch it. Page by: SS

Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
We were also inspired by the film "Cannibal Holocaust" (1980). This is because of the cannibal themes within the film which were relevant to the themes explored in our product. The shots of the body parts within the film were particularly prevalent in inspiring our film and trailer because we felt that these shots added the most depth to our trailer whilst keeping to a simplistic contemporary horror style.
This film is based a film crew who go the Amazon to film a documentary about cannibal tribes. However, the team go missing and a New York professor, Harold Monroe leads a search team to find them. Although this team fails, Monroe returns to the USA with the footage the team had filmed. From this film we gained a deeper and better understanding of what a cannibal film should truly 'look' like. We felt that, after viewing this film, the use of dark locations and human body parts would be key in both our film and teaser trailer. Furthermore, our research suggested that this style would be particularly popular with our target audience group (Males 15-25). Therefore, we were inspired by Cannibal Holocaust (1980) because it offered a good insight into what we needed to include in our final product to fully meet the genre and brief. DS |

Hansel and Gretel - Witch Hunters (2013)
|
The first idea we thought of, was heavily based on fairytales and Hansel and Gretel was the main one we decided to use as an inspiration.
We realised that this trailer also had aspects of Hansel and Gretel themes, such as the fact that it is based in a forest, much like Hansel and Gretel. .............. TBC SS |
